Are you using a Wi-Fi connection between your inverter and router and no data is coming through in your Omnik or Solis monitoring portal?

Then go through the following steps to re-establish the Wi-Fi connection. Do this procedure in daylight and about 1 meter away from your inverter:

1. Reset the inverter

1. At the bottom of the inverter, switch OFF the DC switch on the left hand side of Figure A1.1.

Figure A1.1

2. Now turn off the AC isolation switch next to the inverter or the solar panel group in the group box and wait 1 minute. (if you have a PV distributor (group box near the inverter), you can switch it off instead of the group box)

3. Now switch on the AC maintenance switch or the solar panel group in the group box again.

4. Turn the switch under the inverter 1/4 turn clockwise to turn the inverter back on.

The next day, check if data is visible in your monitoring portal.

If not, did you install a new router or did your current router get a new password when at the time you noticed the production data was no longer shown in your monitoring portal?

Then continue with the steps below:

2. Make a connection

LOGIC OF THE PROCEDURE

a) Connect laptop, tablet or smartphone to WiFi generated by inverter

b) Access the info web-page of the inverter

c) Connect inverter to home internet via WiFi o LAN

d) Check procedure went successfully and make photo of the Status (with all fields visible)

5. Grab your laptop, tablet or smartphone, walk to the inverter, leave the Wi-Fi on, only disconnect the internet connection from your own network (your router) by clicking 'forget network'.

6. Search for available WiFi network and select the network starting with “AP”, then connect (if you have forgotten the password for the AP signal, create a ticket above) - It may say: "connected, no internet", this is fine because you are now connected to the inverter and not the router. - Do not connect to a 5Ghz network from your router, your inverter only works with 2.4Ghz. Are both Wi-Fi names the same: make sure that the 5Ghz Wi-Fi name is recognizable in the router, by placing for example: -5Ghz behind the Wi-Fi name.

.

7. Open your internet browser, for example Firefox or Chrome, type 10.10.100.254 in the address bar (not in the Google search bar) and press enter.

8. Log in by entering 'admin' in both fields and click on 'log in'.

9. Click on 'Wizard' on the left of the image and then click on 'Start'.

10. On a Solis inverter is asked whether you want to connect via Wireless connection or via a Cable connection. If Wireless connection is selected and behind Wireless "Enabled", click Next.

Then select your own Wi-Fi network and click 'Next'. If your network is not visible, click on 'Refresh'.

If your WiFi signal is less than 20% then your signal is not strong enough to make the connection between the inverter and the router.

Check out these Wi-Fi tips to boost the signal. Then start at step 5.

In step 10 connect to your own network which indicates the highest % number. If you have a Wi-Fi amplifier, it is best to place it between the inverter and your router and connect to your Wi-Fi amplifier.

11. Enter the password of your Wi-Fi network twice and check "Show Password". Do the passwords match and are they correct? Then click on 'Next' If you see the message "Invalid encryption method or wrong password" after pressing "Next", it may be that the connection to the AP network has been lost. Check if you are still connected to this network and reconnect if necessary. Then click "Next" again.

12. Check if Obtain an IP address automatically is set to Enable. If not, adjust this and click on 'Next'.

13. You are now in the "Enhance Security" screen. Here you can adjust the security settings of your inverter. Check "Change the encryption mode for AP", select "WPA2-PSK" as "Encryption mode" and "AES" as "Encryption algorithm" and enter a password and paste this password on the inverter. This will be your password when you want to connect to the AP network. Then click on 'Next'.

14. To complete the wizard now click on 'OK'.

15. You should then see 'Setting complete'. This can take up to 1 minute.

16. One can perform a final check to confirm the procedure went successfully.

To do this, one re-performs steps 5-8, and in step 9 clicks on 'Status' instead of 'Wizard'.

The procedure went successful when the following fields are correctly filled:

- wireless AP (or STA) mode --> Enable;

- IP address is not empty;

- Remote server A --> Pingable.

3. Take a screenshot of the 'Status' page with all menu open and keep it for future reference.

4. Troubleshooting WiFi procedure

1) Is 'IP address' empty?

Check with your internet provider that the Firewall gates 8844, 8845, 8899, 10004 of the router are open for the communication with the inverter.

2) Is 'Remote server A' not Pingable? Or do you see at ''Wireless STA mode'' an IP that starts with 169. or is exactly 10.10.100.254 like in the Wireless AP mode:

Re-do the procedure

Additional tips to make the most efficient connection between your inverter and the internet network:

Tip 1: Omnik inverters have "difficulties" with certain names of your internet network and the associated password. If the name of your Wi-Fi network does not meet the points below, it may be that the connection is interrupted for no reason. - Your network name and password consist of a maximum of 16 characters. - You only use numbers and letters. A-Z, a-z, 0-9. - Avoid spaces in network name and password.

Tip 2: - Is your Wifi Signal weak? Then check out these WiFi tips to boost the signal. However, you should never choose channel 12 or 13, this is not allowed by law and our inverters do not work on these channels.

Tip 3: - A WiFi amplifier is best placed at half the distance of the router inverter. If there are 2 WiFi devices close to each other and WiFi interferes, you can adjust the transmission strength for Omnik inverters by setting it to medium at '' Transmission power '', see the picture in the appendix at the bottom of this page.

Tip 4: With Omnik inverters you can also change the password of the inverter's wireless AP_network afterwards. See the picture in the appendix at the bottom: Only adjust the chapter at '' Change the encryption mode for AP '', enter it as indicated there and make a password of only (Uppercase) letters and numbers.

Appendix for Omnik, to be used ONLY when the procedure above does not succeed!!

1. Unmounting cover WiFi card

1) At the bottom of the inverter, switch OFF the DC switch on the left hand side of Figure A1.1.

Figure A1.1

2) Switch OFF the 'werkschakelaar' of the inverter (external to the inverter);

3) Remove the 4 screws of the antenna cover with a screwdriver (Figure A1.2)

Figure A1.2

4) Under the cover you'll see the WiFi card as in Figure A1.3
